Meet Dr Adam Weiss

You might wonder, who am I to give advice? Let me start with who I’m not: an attorney or a financial advisor. I am a victim who, after 38 years, saw my family torn apart and faced financial ruin. It took over two years to resolve in court—via Zoom, no less. Why so long? I was told it would be less than a year since my kids are grown. Just split the assets and sell the house. Simple, right? Not quite. My ex hired five lawyers to drag out the process.

I realized the need for this kind of book as I watched my lawyer's retainer fee dwindle with every interaction, from talks with opposing counsel to court motions. Throughout this, I saw a glaring lack of compassion and urgency in the court system. I knew it would be difficult, but I was shocked at how the system moved through paperwork, indifferent to the people involved or the costs. Here, I share what I’ve learned to help you be better prepared for your own divorce.
